Mid-Week Update from St Johns

Date: May 7, 2020

Dear all –

First of all, thanks so much to Sylvia for organising such a lovely plant
sale today on their drive – I’m looking forward to seeing my cosmos plants
flowering later in the summer, and the great news is that the sale has made
£130 for the lighting fund – as well as giving all of us with a bit of
garden space a lot of enjoyment!

Here are this week’s photos from the Wimbledon environs – I thought I was
jealous of Ken’s tomato plants this morning; ours still look like cress –
but Richard’s photo of a neighbouring house on Denmark Road just takes the
biscuit for perfection.  I thought it might have been out of some English
Garden dream, but apparently this is actually what No 30 looks like at the
moment.

I thought I’d include the sites for services and music again, so you don’t
have to scroll through old emails to find them.  Good news – The powers
that be seem to be suggesting a relaxation of the rule about vicars not
being allowed in church, so we are hoping that Stephen may be able to
record services from inside St John’s shortly, instead of at home – fingers
crossed!

You can find our services on https://soundcloud.com/stjohnswimbledon

And our music on  https://soundcloud.com/musicatstjohns/

Thank you to everyone who replied to my email on Monday, got about 60%
already – If you meant to reply but didn’t quite get round to it, replying
to this one will work as well, and over the next few days I will try to
contact everyone else to see if this is going into spam, or not arriving at
all.

And finally, I was sent this very uplifting version of the
Hallelujah Chorus by both the Vernells and the Dicksons this week – it’s
so joyful; if you haven’t seen it yet, enjoy!
