The Fifteenth Sunday after Trinity
Date: September 20, 2020
Dear Friends,
Our online service for tomorrow can be found here:

We hope to try a new recording device at church tomorrow, and we’ll upload
the results in the afternoon.
*Martin Travers*
I’m sure you will all be fond of the eye-catching reredos in the Memorial
Chapel in St John’s by Martin Travers. Michael Yelton, who wrote a
biography of Travers in 2016, recently gave an online lecture on Travers’
work, here:

*Organ Recital, Friday 25th Sept*
Robert Mingay-Smith & James Norrey will present a 50 minute organ recital
on Friday 25th September at 1.00pm on Zoom. Bring your own coffee and
cake and there will also be a mini cake related quiz at the end. We will
direct you to donate to St John’s and Macmillan Cancer Support.
*Michaelmas Sunday, 27th Sept*
At Michaelmas we give thanks that God ‘*hast ordained and constituted the
services of angels and mortals in a wonderful order*.’ I have often felt
that the end of summer has a feeling of a new start about it – far more so
than the horrors of early January. Therefore, we shall be continuing the
practice of asking God’s blessing upon the work of our hands – in a
socially distanced fashion, of course – so if you wish, please do consider
bringing a token of your work of your hands/trade for blessing.
With kind regards,
Stephen
