The First World War in Poetry, Prise & Music: Saturday 27th October in Garden Hall, St Mary’s at 7.30pm.  The evening follows on from the moving commemorative evening held in 2014 with more material from the war, including recently uncovered archive material about Wimbledon’s rôle.  Tickets: £5 on sale after the 9.30 service or from Anne Chester (annechester7@gmail.com, 020 8946 1022) or from the Parish Office.

‘Whist with a Twist’ – Night Shelter fundraiser in our Community Hall. Sat 24th Nov, 6pm.  Dinner included, a suggested donation of £15 Adults, £10 children.  No need for a whist partner, so perfect whether you are living alone or inundated with family.  If you have a basic understanding of whist (or any card game really) this will be the night for you – it’s fun, sociable and raises money for a great local cause.  Please see Jane Long if you want to know more.

Faith in Action – Urgently needs men’s clothes. If you are having a clean out of your cupboards, they are looking for casual clothes, jeans, polo shirts, T-shirts, jumpers, jackets, anything that would be good for layering as the weather gets colder.  (NB They have plenty of women’s clothes, and can’t use suits or suit-type shirts).  If you bring clothes to St John’s, Jane Long or May Nicholl will take them to FIA.

Wimbledon Food Bank: Thank you for all your generous donations so far. There is still a shortage of sugar (cubes or granulated), tinned sponge pudding, tinned rice pudding, jam and honey, pasta sauce, tinned meat (mince/steak pies/chicken pies/meat pudding etc ), tinned pears, tomato sauce and tinned fish. Thank you all so much!

Merton Night Shelter.  If anyone is interested in helping with the Night shelter, which runs at St Mark’s on Saturday nights from the beginning of December until the end of January, please could you contact Jane Long, email jane.long@me.com.  Most people sign up for one or two slots, so it’s not onerous, either catering for/manning the shelter.  If you haven’t been before, there is a training session on Sunday 18th Nov 3-5pm at the YMCA in Wimbledon which you need to attend.

We really need extra help with the breakfast shift, which is quiet and easy, but starts at 6.30am on Sundays, and also with cooking – which involves pre-cooking part of the meal whenever you want and dropping it into the hall at about 7pm on Saturday.

If you are unable to give your time but would like to support the Night Shelter, then we need the following:

Oyster cards, medium sized rucksacks, hotel-type towelling slippers, £10 pay-as-you-go phones (bricks), Trainers, steel toe-capped boots (for work), New boxer shorts, new socks – Thank you!  Jane Long

Data Privacy Policy & Data Privacy Notices: The PCC have now agreed a Data Privacy Policy (DPP) and Data Privacy Notices (DPN). If you would like to find out more about DPP and DPN see the Parish or St Mary’s website. If you would like a copy of the privacy notices and policy please ask Jane in the Parish Offices. Each of the churches will also display a copy of the privacy notice on their noticeboards.
