This is a style which originated in the 1870’s and of which we have many (a few very fine indeed) examples in Wimbledon. Please come along at 10.30 for coffee the talk will begin at 11.00 lasts for about an hour. Do bring your partner or friends if you would like but please RSVP if you are coming, with the preferred date. ‘Whist with a Twist’ – Night Shelter fundraiser in our Community Hall. Sat 24th Nov, 6pm.  Dinner included, a suggested donation of £15 Adults, £10 children.  No need for a whist partner, so perfect whether you are living alone or inundated with family.  If you have a basic understanding of whist (or any card game really) this will be the night for you – it’s fun, sociable and raises money for a great local cause.  Please see Jane Long if you want to know more.

Faith in Action – Urgently needs men’s clothes. If you are having a clean out of your cupboards, they are looking for casual clothes, jeans, polo shirts, T-shirts, jumpers, jackets, anything that would be good for layering as the weather gets colder.   If you bring clothes to St John’s, Jane Long or May Nicholl will take them to FIA.

Church of England Children’s Society Box Holders – Another year has flashed by and we need to have your collection box back by Sunday 16th December at the latest. Hopefully we can beat last year’s figure of £797.39 (an average of £31.90 per box holder) Every pound, penny and other coins collected in your Box, plus any cheques made payable to the Church of England Children’s Society are also most welcome and these vital funds go towards fighting childhood poverty, harm, abuse and neglect and your commitment is vital. Please leave your box in the Church Vestry, or drop it round to 3 St John’s Road. Mark Liversedge has offered to come and collect it, if it’s more convenient. Please contact Mark on 07803397317 for further information. Many Thanks.

Merton Night Shelter. Thanks so much to everyone who has volunteered – we now have plenty of chefs, and nearly all hosting slots filled.  We have one evening slot left on each evening except 12th Jan, and one night slot to fill on 22nd Dec.  If you feel able to help, please let Jane know. NB If you are new to the night shelter, please remember the training session on Sunday 18th Nov, 3-5pm at the YMCA on the Broadway.

JJs/Sunday School We have a thriving creche and Sunday School (JJs) and would really appreciate some more volunteers to help with leading the Sunday school group for the 6-12 year age range.  Please contact Rachel or Angelina Bulmer if you can offer help for this vital part of the junior church.

A Huge Thank You to Catherine Davies and Ken Boydt who have designed and managed the garden works at the rear of the Hall. It is now complete. We now just need to add some shrubs, plants and a few garden ornaments to bring it to life!
