Team Prayers at St John’s on Thursday at 1.00pm.
St John’s Christmas Fair will be held on Sat 23rd Nov 12-4pm, primarily to raise money for the re-lighting project, but we will also give some of the money raised to our church charities. Starting this Thurs 20th June, 2-4pm, we are going to meet on the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month in the Peter Dixon Room to make things for the craft stall – some examples at the back of church. We thought we would extend this to invite anyone living locally who might want to come along and help us, or just to chat, or to play board games. We’re going to call it
“Crafts & Draughts”. The dates are: June 20th July 4th, July 18th, Aug 1st, Aug 15th, Sep 5th, Oct 3rd, Oct 17th, Nov 20th, Sept 19th
In addition, Jane Austin will be running wrapping paper making afternoons at her house – 22nd June, 29th June, 27th & 27th July 2-4pm. Numbers are limited, so please do see her if you would like to join in.

Choral Scholarship Fund: The St John’s Singers were joined by our new choral scholars Rosalind Dobson and Charlie Broad in September 2018 and they were welcomed with open arms. We will be continuing the scholarship scheme this year in order to help students with their ever increasing education fees and to support the St John’s Singers in their important role here at St John’s. Huge thanks must go to those who contributed and continue to support this important scheme, but we now need to raise an extra £4,000 on top of funds already received for this to go ahead.
Please get in contact with Rachel or Rob if you feel you would like to contribute.
Climate Change – Mass Lobby. As Christians, we seek to put our faith into action by loving and caring for our neighbours and the Earth, our common home. And right now, both are threatened from the impact of climate catastrophe. Will you join the mass lobby in Westminster, London on 26 June 2019 1pm and tell MPs that it’s time to act on climate catastrophe? Climate change is devastating the world’s poorest communities right now, as more extreme weather events, from flooding to droughts, drive families from their homes and create food crises. It is hitting the poorest hardest! We know what we need to do to reverse the trend of climate change and protect people: we need to cut global greenhouse emissions to net zero. The existing UK Government targets don’t go far enough – we need to get to net zero by 2045 to make a difference. On 26 June, we’ll come together in London to celebrate our faith in action, lobby our political representatives, pray together and energise one another for the challenges to come.
