Team Prayers at St Mary’s on Thursday at 1.00pm.
Fri 12th July – RHS Wisley trip. If anyone is interested in joining please let Jane Long know (firstname.lastname@example.org). We have a few drivers, so we thought we would share cars. We’ll probably leave Wimbledon about 10am, but once we know who is coming, we will finalise the time & lifts.
St John’s Christmas Fair will be held on Sat 23rd Nov 12-4pm, primarily to raise money for the re-lighting project, but we will also give some of the money raised to our church charities.
Next ‘Crafts & Draughts’ Thurs 18th July – We are going to meet on the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month in the Peter Dixon Room to make things for the craft stall – some examples at the back of church. We thought we would extend this to invite anyone living locally who might want to come along and help us, or just to chat, or to play board games. The next dates are:
Aug 1st, Aug 15th, Sept 5th, Sept 19th , Nov 7th
Oct 3rd, Nov 20th (NB Wed), Oct 17th
In addition, Jane Austin will be running the next wrapping paper making afternoon at her house on 27th July 2-4pm. Numbers are limited, so please do see her if you would like to join in.
Choral Scholarship Fund: The St John’s Singers were joined by our new choral scholars Rosalind Dobson and Charlie Broad in September 2018 and they were welcomed with open arms. We will be continuing the scholarship scheme this year in order to help students with their ever increasing education fees and to support the St John’s Singers in their important role here at St John’s. Huge thanks must go to those who contributed and continue to support this important scheme, but we now need to raise an extra £4,000 on top of funds already received for this to go ahead. Please get in contact with Rachel or Rob if you feel you would like to contribute.
Christian Aid 2019. We are pleased to report that St Johns raised £2261 for this year’s appeal, 5.8% greater than in 2018.
We would like to thank our street collectors and everyone who donated to this excellent cause.
