The Thanksgiving Service for David Leyland will be at St Paul’s Church Inner Park Road on Friday August 2nd at noon.  Parking will be very restricted as they are beginning gas repairs in the roads surrounding the Church this week!

The 93 bus stops at Inner Park Road and it is about a 6-8 minute walk to the Church. Rob is kindly playing the organ and the recital before the Service will last for 18 to 20 mins. A light luncheon will follow the Service. You are all most welcome. Best wishes Susan.

HEAR NADIA BOLZ-WEBER. According to ‘The Washington Post’, Bolz-Weber is the champion of people sick of being belittled as ‘not Christian enough’ for the right, and ‘too Jesus-y’ for the left. In other words, she is interesting and different. She is speaking at Southwark Cathedral on Wednesday 21 August on ‘Shameless: The Sexual Reformation’. I have 10 tickets (£8/£5 concs). If you would like to come, please email me on Don’t tarry – these will sell out.

Experiences of Choral Evensong Survey: The University of Oxford’s Faculty of Music is undertaking a three-year, Arts and Humanities Research Council-funded project to investigate the ways in which people experience Choral Evensong in 21st-century Britain. Inspired by the growing numbers of people reportedly attending Choral Evensong in many -though not all -of the churches where it is regularly held, the survey is asking: Who is going? Why? What do they experience when they are there? And what light might social, cultural and psychological perspectives shed on what this tells us about sacred music and 21st century society? The deadline for taking part is 31 August 2019.
