Date: August 18, 2019

Team Prayers at St Mark’s on Thursday at 1.00pm.

Next ‘Crafts & Draughts’ Thurs 15th August – We are going to meet on the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month in the Peter Dixon Room to make things for the craft stall – some examples at the back of church. We thought we would extend this to invite anyone living locally who might want to come along and help us. Or just to chat or to play board games. The future dates are: Sept 5th, Sep 19th, Oct 3rd, Oct 17th, Nov 7th & Nov 20th (NB Wed)

Hear Nadia Bolz-Weber. According to ‘The Washington Post’, Bolz-Weber is the champion of people sick of being belittled as ‘not Christian enough’ for the right, and ‘too Jesus-y’ for the left. In other words, she is interesting and different. She is speaking at Southwark Cathedral on Wednesday 21 August on ‘Shameless: The Sexual Reformation’. I have 10 tickets (£8/£5 concs). If you would like to come, please email me on orchard.helen@gmail.com.

Soul Space – Deepening our experience of the divine through meditative music, candlelight and silence – All are welcome at a new service for the parish which will run on the first Thursday of every month. Beginning on Thurs 5 Sept, there will be an opportunity to deepen your experience of God through Taize & Iona music, prayer and time for reflection. Held at St Matthew’s church, there will be music from 7.30pm, with a service beginning at 8pm.  No previous experience necessary – come and try it out.

Dioceasan Spirituality Day – ‘To be a Pilgrim’ This is being held in Southwark Cathedral on Saturday 19 October from 10.00am until 4.00pm. The keynote speaker is Dr Meg Warner. There will be workshops, prayer stations, stalls and uplifting worship throughout the day. Tickets online £8 or £10 at the door. https://to_be_a_pilgrim.eventbrite.co.uk

Emergency Foodbank Appeal: The Wimbledon Foodbank stocks are very low:

If you shop at Tesco New Malden or Waitrose Wimbledon or Waitrose Raynes Park, buy extra items with your shopping and drop them in the collection box near the customer service area.
2.  Get the supermarket to deliver
Place an online order with any of the online supermarkets, for delivery to St John the Divine Church, High Path, Wimbledon, SW19 2JY only on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10 and midday.
