Team Prayers at St John’s on Thursday at 1.00pm.
Next ‘Crafts & Draughts’ We are going to meet on the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month in the Peter Dixon Room to make things for the craft stall – some examples at the back of church. We thought we would extend this to invite anyone living locally who might want to come along and help us. Or just to chat or to play board games. The future dates are: Sept 5th, Sep 19th, Oct 3rd, Oct 17th, Nov 7th & Nov 20th (NB Wed)
Soul Space – Deepening our experience of the divine through meditative music, candlelight and silence – All are welcome at a new service for the parish which will run on the first Thursday of every month. Beginning on Thurs 5 Sept, there will be an opportunity to deepen your experience of God through Taize & Iona music, prayer and time for reflection. Held at St Matthew’s church, there will be music from 7.30pm, with a service beginning at 8pm. No previous experience necessary – come and try it out.
Mindfulness public course in September this year is run by Clare Morgan. This is the 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
course and please join it if you are able.

Lunchtime Recitals are back!
Friday 27th September 1pm Charles MacDougall tenor and our own Robert Mingay-Smith piano. The Bird’s Lament – Rodney Bennett & Vaughan Williams.
Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning will be held prior t the recital at 12.00pm.
Friday 25th October 1pm Diana Matthews viola. Khachaturian – Sonata-song for solo viola & Paul Osterfield – Ablaze for solo viola (2013)
Refreshments will be served from 12.30pm, there will be a retiring collection.
Dioceasan Spirituality Day – ‘To be a Pilgrim’ This is being held in Southwark Cathedral on Saturday 19 October from 10.00am until 4.00pm. The keynote speaker is Dr Meg Warner. There will be workshops, prayer stations, stalls and uplifting worship throughout the day. Tickets online £8 or £10 at the door. https://to_be_a_pilgrim.eventbrite.co.uk
All the birds of the Air – Saturday 14 September 6.00 – 8.00pm a concert by choral group Feverpitch in a lovely garden in SW19. Tickets to include wine and canapes £25 in support of Prisoners’ Education Trust. For further details go to www.prisonerseducation.org.uk or telephone 020 3752 5681.
Abundance Wimbledon Fruit Day will be on Saturday 14 September between 11.00am and 2.30pm at St Mark’s Church Hall and garden. Entry free. St John’s – Future Diary Dates
Sun 8th Sept 10.15 All Welcome Service This will be last service held by Rev Yunghee Koh. Please come along and wish Yunghee all the very best and to thank her for the support at St Johns for the last 8 months.
Thurs 12th Sept 7.30pm. Stephen Edmonds Licensing Service, all welcome. We will be serving drinks and nibbles after, so if you are able to help by providing some buffet type finger food, please let Jane know.
Sun 15th Sep 10.15 Sung Eucharist – Revd Dr Stephen Edmonds will be taking his first of many services here at St Johns. Please come along to welcome him.
Sat 21st Sept, 6.30-7.30pm St John’s Singers’ Concert. Please come and support our choir singing some of their favourite pieces. The concert won’t be ticketed, but there will be a retiring collection for the church lighting project.
Sat 28th Sept, 6.30pm ‘Whist with a Twist’, £15 adults/£10 children, Evening of whist with supper included to raise money for our night of the Merton Night Shelter.
