Mid-Week Update from St Johns

Date: October 28, 2020

Dear all –

I have quite a few diary dates for you this week –

The first is our *ACM on Sunday 1st Nov*, straight after the 10.15am
service in the church.  Rachel will be sending out the report tomorrow.
You will have seen it before, as we did send it earlier in the year, but
it’s been a few months, so you may want to remind yourself of what happened
in the year leading up to April 2020.  If you are unable to attend, but
you have any questions/points that you would like raised at the ACM, please
could you email me with them, and we will make sure they are raised at the
meeting on your behalf.

The second is our Friday Concert –
*Friday 30th October at 1.00pm (Zoom opens at 12.45pm)*
Inversion
Ruth Stockdale *flute*
Robert Mingay-Smith *organ*
Hymn arrangements and other music for flute and organ by
Mozart, Chaminade and more!

Meeting ID: 870 8375 5430
Passcode: 982623

The Zoom link will open* from 12.45pm*, with the concert starting at 1pm.
Rob has also included a YouTube link as you might prefer to join us for
the pre-concert chat on Zoom, but then listen to the concert on YouTube as
the quality will be better.

We thought that we might try to make it seem a bit more like a Friday
concert by offering to deliver you a *slice of cake*, so you have something
to nibble during the concert. If you would like one delivered, please just
reply to this email today so I have an idea of numbers.  I will have a
choice of Banana Cake, Ginger Cake or Shortbread, so just let me know what
you would prefer and I will deliver tomorrow (Thurs) afternoon –  Once I
have a list of deliveries, I can probably let you know an approx time as
well.

If you are able to make a donation towards the concert costs, please head
for the St John’s Website – https://www.stjohnswimbledon.co.uk/ and scroll
to the bottom of the page where you will find a link about making a
‘general donation’.  Thank you!

Thirdly, the music doesn’t end with the concert – we will be holding an
Evensong this Sunday 1st Nov, 6.30pm, to commemorate ‘All Souls’, so it
would be lovely to see you there as well.

I’ve got some great photos that people have sent me this week – Catherine
(choir) reminded me of this marvellous sunset back in July, which was one
of the first times that the choir met up after lockdown, outside on the
common for a first sing together.

We have been walking a friend’s dog on the common over half term and
yesterday we came across this amazing toadstool – it’s been a bit battered
by walkers, but still the most brilliant colours, I thought it complemented
the above sunset rather well.

Then Dudley sent met this – she was out in her garden a couple of days ago,
and had noticed a yellow piece of litter in the flowerbed – she went to
remove it and found that it was actually a rather confused primrose, coming
up about 6 months late, or early!

And then finally, to make up for being grumpy last week, Anthea had sent me
this fab video, which actually made me cry with laughter – so I will
inflict it on you as well –
