Mid-Week update from St Johns
Date: April 21, 2021
The cherry tree outside church is looking particularly lovely at the moment
– hopefully it won’t be too windy for the next few days, and the blossom
will still be intact at the weekend, so that those of you who don’t get to
walk past during the week can enjoy it as well.
Stephen and Rosie are away this week, so we have Canon Richard Truss
presiding on Sunday – which I must say I’m rather looking forward to, as I
do enjoy the way he preaches…. I was looking about on Google, and for
those who might be interested, I found this article about him, written when
he retired from St John’s Waterloo.
*St John’s Electoral Roll Update*
Hopefully everyone received my electoral roll emails earlier in the week.
I think most people are already included on it, but if you’re not and
want to be, I’ve put a few blank electoral roll forms in the plastic holder
on the table straight in front of you when you come in, so please do take
one and fill it in. I’ll be at the back of church after the service to
collect any completed forms.
*Diary Date – St John’s ACM 2021*
I know it’s hardly any time since we had the last ACM in November, but
we’re moving back to some sort of normality now, and this year’s ACM will
be on *16th May 2021*, in church after the 10.15am service. We’ll
distribute the report on Churchsuite before the meeting, but will make a
few hard copies as well for those who prefer.
Graham sent me a few garden shots – the tulips and pear tree are his
(Graham’s plants always look far better cared for than the ones in my
garden, which never pleases me, but hey ho, probably something I could do
about that…) I’ve also added a few snaps taken round WImbledon Common
on our walks. I particularly loved the big, fat, bumble bee who was very
busy collecting pollen yesterday when we were out.
