*Choral Evensong for St Valentine from St John’s!

*To cheer your hearts in this chilly month, we present on our Soundcloud
page a rendition of Choral Evensong at St John’s – recorded/edited in
accordance with social distancing regulations – with music provided by the
Seraphim Consort, and a short homily by me.

My thanks to everyone who helped put this together and who lent their
voices to the various services this week!

The order of service can be found here: St Valentine-s Evensong (Feb
2021).pdf

*Next Month*

Depending on the direction taken by the government in the coming weeks, the
success of the roll-out of the vaccine – and the hope that there is not a
renewed spike of infections – we cautiously hope to begin services in
church again sometime in March. Watch this space…

*Parish Lent Course via Zoom*

The Wimbledon Team hopes to run a Lent course designed by Inclusive
Church and run via Zoom. If you would be interested in leading or
participating in an online discussion group via Zoom, please do drop me a
line for further information.

*Our Survey Says…*

*Last year the University of York St John surveyed 7,000 churchgoers as to
their reaction to the pandemic. It looks like the Powers That Be in the
Church of England are paying great attention to the results found last year
– so please can I encourage you to fill in the latest survey on the topic,
here .

On lighter matters, an Oxford postgrad is undertaking research on
‘*perceptions of congregational singing* *in the Church of England*’ with
particular reference to the lockdown period. Please do consider filling it
in, here .

*From the Times

*Clerical reflections on COVID are ten a penny, but this is doing the
rounds, and is considered to be rather good, here
.

*Lent Books – Mea Culpa*

It is custom for publishers to bring out a goodly number of short,
devotional texts to read during Lent, and it is also custom for clergy to
commend them to their congregations. However, Lent appears to have crept up
on me, and I have three of them still sitting on my to-read pile, so I will
try and cram them this week to see which of them I can legitimately commend
to you.

With kind regards,

Stephen & Rosie
