Stephen and Rosie will be having an Open House so they can try and get to know you all a little better! Please join them between 7-9pm – St Saviour’s Vicarage, Church Walk, Raynes Park, SW20 9DL – on Friday 25th October. Another date to be confirmed in the due course! There’s a sign up sheet at the back of church where you can tell us about any dietary requirements.
Congratulations to Emily Heathfield and Ednun Pourtahmasbi on their engagement. We look forward to their wedding here at St John’s on Saturday 19th September 2020.
Next ‘Crafts & Draughts’ Please join us if you would like to help with the craft stall contents, or have a cup of tea and a chat. The future dates are:, Oct 3rd, Oct 17th, Nov 7th & Nov 20th (NB Wed) 2-4pm.
Soulscape – Returns Thursday 3 October at St Matthew’s. A candlelit meditative service seeking to engage us with the divine.There will be music chants from 7.30pm for those who would like to come early to pray, the service will begin at 8pm and last for around 45 minutes.Everyone is welcome. This service will develop and adjust over the coming months and your constructive feedback will be most welcome. Diocesan Spirituality Day – ‘To be a Pilgrim’ This is being held in Southwark Cathedral on Saturday 19 October from 10.00am until 4.00pm. The keynote speaker is Dr Meg Warner. There will be workshops, prayer stations, stalls and uplifting worship throughout the day. Tickets online £8, or £10 at the door. https://to_be_a_pilgrim.eventbrite.co.uk
Helpers needed for the St John’s monthly Friday lunchtime concerts. If you would be able, on occasion, to help serve the teas/coffees/cakes at these concerts, please could you speak to Ursula Edwards or Jane Long, as we’d love to have a couple more people on the rota, thanks!
William Morris, The Arts & Crafts Movement & the Architecture Thereof: A presentation by Margaret & Chris Smart. Either Fri 18th Oct or Sat 26th Oct. 10.15am at 29 Murray Road SW19 4PD for tea, homemade biscuits & display with talk at 11am. Donations £10 (depending on what you can afford) will be divided between Linden Lodge School for disabled children and the Wimbledon Society Museum.

Saturday 19th October 6.30pm – Seraphim which is directed by Rob Mingay-Smith, will be performing the luscious, tempestuous and passionate Brahms’ Liebeslieder Walzer alongside music from their EP ‘Three Messages’. Music on the EP includes Rob’s own set of 4 pieces dedicated to his nephews and nieces who will all be at the concert to hear it live for the first time. Rob says, “At the time of writing ‘Of Such is the Kingdom’, Georgina-Leigh was not born… so when she appeared I wrote her a lullaby which will be premiered at this concert. I’m hoping her ears might prick up as I sing it to her a lot and first sang it to her to help her sleep when she was only a week old!”

Future Diary Dates for St John’s Events
Sat 12th Oct 6.30pm, St John’s Harvest Supper in the hall. We welcome everyone to join together in a harvest meal. We will have some table entertainment in the form of a quiz, with prizes for sheets with the most correct answers at the end of the meal, and a ‘Beetle Drive’. We won’t charge for this event, but all donations received (after costs are covered) will go to the Church charities.
Friday 25th October 1pm Diana Matthews viola. Khachaturian – Sonata-song for solo viola & Paul Osterfield – Ablaze for solo viola (2013) Refreshments will be served. This will be the last of the 2019 Friday concerts, so please do come along.
