The funeral of Jan Hildreth will be held at St John’s on Fri 31st Jan, 12.30pm.
Sun 2nd Feb – Candlemas (Feast of the Presentation of Christ in the Temple) Dave Farris will be speaking to us after the 10am service about the work of the Children’s Society. Choral Evensong at 6:30pm (not 6pm as previously advertised) where Stephen will be preaching.
Wed 5th February – Eve of the Accession of HM The Queen Continuning my hope for marking the various feasts and festivals across the year, we shall be keeping a distinctively Anglican festival next week – with shortened BCP Communion and homily – giving thanks that God provides for his people, and rules them with love.
Xmas Fair Crafting Sessions begin again – 1st & 3rd Thursday of the month, 2-4pm in church. Next month: 6th & 20th Feb. Crafters, chatters, biscuit-eaters, tea/coffee-drinkers welcome – it’s as much about the social side as the crafting!
Fancy a home-cooked takeaway by Kelly on Valentine’s night? “Kelly’s Kitchen” will be open Fri 14th Feb to collect your pre-ordered evening meal. All profits to our charities. Please see Kelly for a takeaway menu/further details and to place your order.
Lunchtime Recitals take place on the 4th Friday of every month at 1.00pm, featuring local and international professional musicians. The next one is Fri 28th Feb at 1pm Rebecca Bell soprano Anthea Fry piano Music by B. Britten. Refreshments including coffee and homemade cakes are available before each recital from 12.30pm, with retiring collection.
Sat 28th March 5pm – SAVE THE DATE We are delighted to have The Rev’d Joseph Morris – a former actor, turned priest – all the way from Georgia, USA. He has performed his one-man show — Mark’s Gospel Live — in hundreds of venues in the U.S., U.K. and Canada, including Southwark Cathedral in 2016. This is a superb way for anyone of all ages to prepare for Holy Week on April 5th. (Joseph is coming a long way to perform for us – please do put it in your diary and invite a friend!).
TEAM PRAYERS here at St John’s each Thursday in January at 1.00 pm.
SOULSCAPE returns Thursday 6 January at St Matthew’s. There will be music chants from 7.30pm for those who would like to come early to pray. The service will begin at 8.00pm and last for around 45 minutes. Everyone is welcome.
QUIZ AT ST MATTHEW’S – All are invited to our Quiz Night at St Matthew’s Church Hall on Saturday 8 February at 7.30pm. £8 quiz entry, cheese and biscuits & hot sausages. Bar provided. It is always a fun event, so get your tickets now from Rachel, email email@example.com.

Do you live in Raynes Park? Raynes Park Safer Neighbourhood Team is looking for local representatives to join the local ward panel. They are looking for local residents, businesses and those involved in community organisations such as churches and schools. They hold ward panel meetings every three months in the Raynes Park area. The meetings discuss and analyse local Policing issues and agree on priorities for the Police to pursue.
