St John’s Singers

Our church choir, the St John’s Singers, are a voluntary mixed-voice choir with a varied and expanding repertoire, performing liturgical music to a high standard throughout the year. This ranges from traditional Anglican music to that of the polyphonic, classical and modern schools of composition, including newly commissioned works written especially for us by Andrew Fletcher, Paul Spicer and Will Todd.

Each year on Remembrance Sunday, the St John’s Singers perform Fauré’s much-loved ‘Requiem’ accompanied by organ and string quintet, together with singers from other local choirs. Visits to sing Choral Evensong at cathedrals and regular social events make the whole experience of music-making extremely rewarding.

New members are always welcome in the choir. Rehearsals take place on Friday evenings, 6.30-7.30pm and on Sunday from 9.15am in preparation for the 10.15am Sung Eucharist. If you would like to join, or are thinking of joining but are not able to commit to every rehearsal or service, please get in touch.

For more information, please contact the Director of Music.
