Joint-winner of the International Tchaikovsky Competition in 1982 Peter Donohoe has built a world-wide career and is acclaimed as one of the foremost pianists of our time, for his musicianship, stylistic versatility and commanding technique.

The programme includes:

• Preludes and Fugues of J S Bach and Dmitri Shostakovich, with the 20th century Russian composer inspired by looking back to the great master of counterpoint of the Baroque
• Mozart’s wondrous K310 minor-key, ‘Avant-Garde’ sonata, an important bridge between Bach’s Baroque and Beethoven
• Stravinsky’s Serenade in A, the ‘loveliest’ of his piano works
• Mussorgsky’s mighty ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’
